🎶Glendale Union High School District Marching Band Exhibition🎶

Glendale Union High School District will host its annual Marching Band Exhibition on November 3, 2025, at Glendale Community College, starting at 6:30 p.m.

This free, open-to-the-public event will showcase performances from student musicians representing Apollo, Cortez, Glendale, Greenway, Independence, Moon Valley, Sunnyslope, Thunderbird, and Washington High Schools.

Attendees will enjoy a night of music and school spirit as bands present their shows for the 2025 season.

Community Launch of Trauma Bleeding Control Training 

The Office of Emergency Management would like to share information about ongoing efforts to educate the public on trauma bleeding control. To kick off National Preparedness Month, and throughout coming months, OEM will be hosting “Stop the Bleed” trainings across all Council Districts.

Over the past year, OEM has successfully trained more than 500 City of Phoenix employees and installed several trauma bleeding control stations across the city. Now, we are proud to bring this initiative to the broader community.

What is Aerification?

Aerification is a mechanical process that creates more airspace in the soil and promotes deeper rooting, helping the grass plants stay healthy. It is done by removing half-inch cores (those plugs you sometimes see near a green or fairway) from compacted soil, allowing for an infusion of air and water, bringing a resurgence of growth. The spaces are filled with sand by a process called “top dressing”. This process helps the soil retain airspace and makes it easier for roots to grow deeper.

The Benefits of Aerification:

1. Aerification loosens soil that has been compacted by golfers' foot traffic and maintenance machines rolling over it.

2. This opens growing room for the roots and increases oxygen to the roots.

3. The roots of the turfgrass can grow deeper, creating a healthier putting surface.

4. Removes organic matter to reduce thatch and provide the conduit for incorporating sand into the greens.

The Phoenix City Council will have a Formal Meeting on Wednesday, October 15th at 2:30 p.m. and Wednesday, Wednesday, October 29th at 2:30 p.m. 

Members of the public can attend and speak in-person, by phone, or virtually via Webex.
