On the evening of April 19th, Volunteer PHX hosted the Impact Volunteer Awards at Phoenix City Hall. It was a great event! We had 18 awardees recognized for their impact to the community.

Volunteer Highlight: Earth Day Projects

The Earth Day volunteer projects were a success! Kudos to our wonderful volunteer groups that participated across the seven different projects: California Closets, Henderson Engineers, Southwest Airlines, Olo, Hotel Adeline, CIM Group, MHW Constructors, Citizens Bank, Sewa International Phoenix, MGC Contractors, Amazon AZA4, HSBC Bank, PetSmart, Knight-Swift Transportation Holdings, MSS Business Transformation Advisory, Southwest Airlines, MPSW, Starbucks, Addison Group, and Stryker!

Volunteer Highlight: NAREB - Graffiti Busters

In April, the City of Phoenix Neighborhood Services Department hosted a great group of volunteers from the National Association of Real Estate Brokers (NAREB) - Phoenix Realtist Professional Group, Sherwin Williams, and Moore Painting and Restoration participated in removing graffiti at the underpass at 59th Avenue and Baseline Road.

The group chose to celebrate Realtist Week with a community service day. We’re grateful to this team for playing a part in beautifying our city!

We're Cool: Volunteers Needed

High summer temperatures pose a significant risk of heat-related illnesses in our community each year. The City of Phoenix's We're Cool initiative is dedicated to preventing such illnesses by providing essential heat relief supplies and connecting residents to vital city services. As a We're Cool volunteer, you will play a crucial role in engaging community members in public spaces, particularly in the downtown Phoenix core and at trails.

In partnership with the Phoenix Convention Center, Visit Phoenix, and Downtown Phoenix Inc., volunteers will provide maps to cooling and hydration stations, offer health-related summer safety information, and promote enjoyable and safe activities in Phoenix during the summer months.

AARP Foundation Experience Corps: Volunteers Needed

Currently, only 32% of 3rd grade Phoenix students are reading at grade level and we need your help!

AARP Foundation Experience Corps is a community-based volunteer program that empowers people over 50 years of age to serve as tutors to help students become better readers by the end of third grade. It is a proven “triple win,” helping students succeed, older adults thrive, and communities grow stronger.

Sky Harbor Teen Navigator Program

The Sky Harbor Teen Navigator Program is back at Sky Harbor International Airport! This summer volunteer program is designed for teens 14 years or older who are interested in learning more about the aviation industry and helping passengers navigate the airport.

For eight weeks beginning in June 2024, Sky Harbor Teen Navigators will volunteer alongside experienced Navigators at the Airport in weekly 4-hour shifts. They will help visitors by assisting at interactive directories, providing directions, or just offering friendly smiles. This is a great way for a student to fulfill their service-learning requirements and see first-hand how the Airport drives Arizona’s economic engine.
