Community Cleanups Paused for Summer
For the safety of volunteers and City staff during the hot summer months, community cleanups will be paused from June 16 through August 31. Requests for supplies for cleanups such as trash pickers, dumpster bins, and tool trailers will not be accepted during this timeframe. Thank you for your understanding and helping to enhance, preserve and engage Phoenix neighborhoods.

Monica Garcia, Secretary III
When you visit the Neighborhood Services Department at Phoenix City Hall, Monica Garcia will likely be the first friendly face you’ll encounter. Monica answers the incoming calls and in-person visits to the Neighborhood Services Department at City Hall, as well as duties such as ordering office supplies, notarizing documents, registering new neighborhood groups and helping others in the department. She has been with the City of Phoenix for nine years and says the best part of her job is that each day presents new challenges.
She loves the mountain views in Phoenix and being able to participate in outdoor activities year round. Most of her family members live here or close to Phoenix, and she enjoys spending time with her five daughters. She also loves cooking and watching sports, especially football... Go Cowboys!

Join us at Steele Indian School Park on Friday, July 4th, for the annual Fabulous Phoenix 4th—one of the largest free Independence Day events in Arizona! Enjoy a dazzling fireworks display, live entertainment, delicious food vendors, a Kids Zone, and family-friendly fun for all ages. Festivities kick off in the evening, and admission is free. Bring your blankets, lawn chairs, and patriotic spirit for a night to remember!

Beat the heat—Phoenix public pools are now officially open for the season! Dive into summer fun at a pool near you and enjoy a safe, refreshing, and low-cost way to cool off with family and friends.
To find your nearest pool, check hours of operation, and learn about swim lessons or recreation programs, visitphoenix.gov/pools.
During Extreme Heat Warnings and Watches issued by the National Weather Service, staying indoors is recommended. If you must spend time outdoors, make sure to drink at least eight ounces of water every 15-20 minutes and avoid alcohol, caffeine and sugary drinks. It is also important to know the signs of heat stroke and heat exhaustion. Additionally, make sure to use sunscreen with SPF 15 or higher and take frequent breaks.

Limpiezas comunitarias suspendidas durante el verano
Para la seguridad de los voluntarios y el personal de la ciudad durante los calurosos meses de verano, las limpiezas comunitarias se suspenderán a partir del 16 de junio – 31 de agosto. No se aceptarán pedidos de suministros para limpiezas, como recolectores de basura, contenedores y remolques de herramientas, durante este periodo. Gracias por su comprensión y por ayudarnos a mejorar, conservar y fortalecer los vecindarios de Phoenix.

Mónica responde llamadas y visitas en persona en el Departamento de Servicios Vecinales (Neighborhood Services Department) del Ayuntamiento. También se encarga de tareas como pedir suministros de oficina, certificar documentos, registrar nuevos grupos vecinales y ayudar a otros miembros del departamento. Trabaja para la ciudad de Phoenix desde hace nueve años y dice que lo mejor de su trabajo es que cada día trae nuevos retos.
Le encantan las vistas de las montañas en Phoenix y poder disfrutar de actividades al aire libre todo el año. La mayoría de sus familiares viven aquí o cerca de Phoenix, y le gusta pasar tiempo con sus cinco hijas. También le encanta cocinar y ver deportes, especialmente fútbol... ¡Vamos, Cowboys!
