Phoenix 602 Day
On June 2, the City of Phoenix will officially celebrate 602 Day for the first time. The local holiday will celebrate Phoenix as a great place to live, work and enjoy life.
The goal of 602 Day is to partner with businesses, cultural organizations, and other groups to provide events and community engagement opportunities that cultivate civic pride. 602 Day will be similar to celebrations in other cities across the country that commemorate their local area code with a day to celebrate their community. Cities put their own spin on a date that corresponds with their local area code. Click the gray button below for information.
It’s not too late to join the FitPHX Power, a fitness series hosted by Phoenix Parks and Recreation! This series aims to encourage physical activity and healthy lifestyles among residents of all ages and abilities. Activities will be held at Mountain View Community Center Park every Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 7p.m., until May 16, 2024.
Be a part of a teen volunteer group that creates a secure and supportive environment that empowers volunteers to learn about their community and discover opportunities to get involved. The Jerome E. Miller Neighborhoods Teens Volunteer program is a great way to meet others, to make a difference in the community, and learn leadership and communication skills that will be beneficial to future endeavors!
Pictured on the left are two of our teen volunteers, who recently received the Volunteer Impact Awards for their contributions and work with seniors. They were honored during an evening ceremony hosted by the City of Phoenix Volunteer Office.

Account Clerk III for the Administrative Services Division
Roberta Gonzales supports the processing of payments for the services NSD offers to the community. She has been with the City for 27 years! She enjoys the opportunities to continuously learn and grow in her current position.
As a native of Phoenix, she loves it here and appreciates loved ones coming to visit to enjoy the weather and beautiful views. In her free time, Roberta loves going out to eat and trying new restaurants Phoenix has to offer. She also loves spending time with her family, especially her kids and two young grandchildren, Mykah Jay and Alayna Rose. They are the best things that has ever happened to them! She looks forward to calls from her son, who is proudly serving in the military and is stationed in Qatar until June 2024 when he finally comes home after a year of deployment. The babies will be so happy for their father to come home.

Tree and Shade Feedback
The City of Phoenix Office of Heat Response and Mitigation is updating the Tree and Shade Plan and is looking for input from residents on the City’s tree and shade initiatives. Take the community feedback questionnaire to share your thoughts on where trees and shade are needed in Phoenix. The questionnaire is completely anonymous and will take approximately 15 minutes to take.

Phoenix 602 Day
El 2 de junio, la Ciudad de Phoenix celebrará oficialmente por primera vez el Día 602. La fiesta local celebrará Phoenix como un gran lugar donde vivir, trabajar y disfrutar de la vida.
El objetivo del Día 602 es colaborar con empresas, organizaciones culturales y otros grupos para ofrecer actos y oportunidades de participación comunitaria que fomenten el orgullo cívico. El Día 602 será similar a las celebraciones de otras ciudades del país que conmemoran su código de área local con un día para celebrar su comunidad. Las ciudades dan su propio toque a una fecha que se corresponde con su prefijo local.
¿Listo para ponerse en forma a tiempo para el verano?
No es demasiado tarde para unirse a FitPHX Power, una serie de actividades físicas organizada por Parques y Recreación de Phoenix. Esta serie tiene como objetivo fomentar la actividad física y estilos de vida saludables entre los residentes de todas las edades y habilidades. Las actividades se llevarán a cabo en el Centro Comunitario Mountain View Center Park todos los martes de 6 p.m. a 7 p.m., hasta el 16 de mayo de 2024.
Forme parte de un grupo de voluntarios adolescentes que crea un entorno seguro y de apoyo que permite a los voluntarios aprender sobre su comunidad y descubrir oportunidades para participar. El programa Jerome E. Miller Neighborhoods Teens Volunteer es una excelente manera de conocer a otras personas, marcar la diferencia en la comunidad y aprender habilidades de liderazgo y comunicación que serán beneficiosas para futuros emprendimientos.
En la foto de la izquierda aparecen dos de nuestros voluntarios adolescentes, que recientemente recibieron los premios de Volunteer Impact por sus contribuciones y su trabajo con personas mayores. Recibieron el premio durante una ceremonia organizada por la Oficina de Voluntarios de la Municipalidad de Phoenix.

Roberta Gonzales apoya el procesamiento de los pagos por los servicios que NSD ofrece a la comunidad. Lleva 27 años trabajando con la Municipalidad. Disfruta de las oportunidades de aprender y crecer continuamente en su puesto actual.
Como nativa de Phoenix, le encanta estar aquí y aprecia que sus seres queridos vengan a visitarla para disfrutar del clima y las hermosas vistas. En su tiempo libre, a Roberta le encanta salir a comer y probar nuevos restaurantes que Phoenix tiene para ofrecer. También le encanta pasar tiempo con su familia, especialmente sus hijos y dos nietos pequeños, Mykah Jay y Alayna Rose. ¡Son lo mejor que le ha pasado jamás! Espera con impaciencia las llamadas de su hijo, que está sirviendo con orgullo en el ejército y está destinado en Qatar hasta junio de 2024, cuando por fin vuelve a casa tras un año de servicio. Los bebés estarán muy contentos de que su padre vuelva a casa.

La Oficina de Respuesta y Mitigación del Calor de la Municipalidad de Phoenix está actualizando el Plan de Árboles y Sombra y está buscando opiniones de los residentes sobre las iniciativas de árboles y sombra de la Municipalidad. Realice el cuestionario de opinión de la comunidad para compartir sus pensamientos sobre dónde se necesitan árboles y sombra en Phoenix. El cuestionario es totalmente anónimo y le llevará aproximadamente 15 minutos.
