Volunteers Needed: Upcoming ¡Sombra! Experiments in Shade Events

¡Sombra! Experiments in Shade is led by the Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture in collaboration with the Parks and Recreation Department, the Office of Innovation, the Office of Heat Response and Mitigation, and the Mayor’s Office.

Volunteers are being recruited for the following dates and times: 

Saturday, June 21st Unveiling Event at Eastlake Park (1549 East Jefferson Street) from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM

Saturday, September 20th at Steele Indian School Park (300 East Indian School Road) from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM

Volunteers must be 14 and older to participate, and volunteers 16 and younger must volunteer with a parent or guardian.

Volunteers Needed for Back-to-School Event!

Volunteers are needed for the Sunnyslope Community Center's annual Back to School event! Volunteers will assist with set-up, passing out backpacks and school supplies, face paint, and line control for an event with 800 attendees!

The event is Saturday, July 12th and will run from 11 AM to 2 PM. Volunteers will be needed from 10 AM to 4 PM.

Volunteer Coaches Needed for Youth Sports!

Love sports and mentoring kids? We're looking for volunteer coaches for soccer, flag football, and t-ball! Our coed program serves children ages 3–12 years old, with leagues held at:

Rose Mofford Sports Complex – Soccer & Flag Football
Encanto Sports Complex – T-Ball

Commitment: 1 practice + 1 game per week (about 20 hours total for the 8-week season).

Requirements: Mandatory Background check/Fingerprints, online training (NAYS), and a mandatory meeting before the season.
