Message from Councilwoman Ann O'Brien
I’m pleased to share that the Federal Aviation Administration is taking your concerns about noise seriously. As mentioned in recent District 1 community meetings and my newsletter, the FAA’s proposal called for concentrating routes into narrower corridors, which means more than 80,000 people in north Phoenix could be negatively impacted. I want to thank everyone who took time to email the FAA and share our message: the FAA should rework its proposal. Thanks to the volume of public comments, the FAA will now take additional time to review and address concerns, as well as evaluate alternative courses of action for several environmentally sensitive areas. As a result, the planned publication of any proposed flight changes has been rescheduled from February 2027 to June 10, 2027. I will continue to monitor the process and share updates.
