Phoenix Water Department

AWF is a festival event with water professionals and community volunteers engaging students in activities on groundwater, watersheds, the water cycle and water conservation technology.

Arizona Water Festivals (AWF) instill a deeper understanding of water in the earth systems and Arizona's water resources through a 4th grade curriculum unit driven by exploration and inquiry.

For more information about the program, please visit:  Arizona Water Festivals (AWF) instill a deeper understanding of water in the earth systems and Arizona's water resources through a 4th grade curriculum unit driven by exploration and inquiry.  | Arizona Water Festival

Volunteers are needed to facilitate lesson plans for each of the lessons. Volunteers for a Phoenix festival should choose one or more of the four school districts that we collaborate with: Osborn or Creighton.

Jana Bio Newsletter Photo.jpg

Welcome to the team, Jana Benson!

Jana first began working for the City of Phoenix as a volunteer Park Steward, then became a Park Ranger II where she spent four years working in our beautiful mountain Preserves.  She was promoted to a supervisor in the Urban Park Ranger Unit and then moved into the Administrative Park Ranger III position for the Natural Resources Division.

In her new position as the Administrative Assistant II in the Director’s Office of the Parks and Recreation Department, one of Jana’s key responsibilities will be coordinating the efforts of division volunteer liaisons and enhancing the visibility of volunteer opportunities in the department.  She is thrilled for the opportunity to improve the fantastic volunteer program that started her journey years ago.

Volunteer Now - VITA

Volunteers Needed – VITA

The City of Phoenix needs volunteers to help residents with their 2024 taxes. Every year, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program prepares free tax returns for low-to-moderate income individuals and families, but we can’t do it without YOU.

VITA volunteers receive free training and are certified by the IRS to prepare basic tax returns. We need greeters, screeners, bilingual interpreters and site coordinators. Volunteering with VITA is a great way to learn new skills and build your resume while helping others.
