Urgent: Volunteers Needed for Back-to-School Event!

Volunteers are needed for the Sunnyslope Community Center's annual Back to School event! Volunteers will assist with set-up, passing out backpacks and school supplies, face paint, and line control for an event with 800 attendees!

The event is Saturday, July 12th and will run from 11 AM to 2 PM. Volunteers will be needed from 10 AM to 4 PM. Volunteers can sign up for one or both shifts.

Dementia-Friendly Air Travel Workshop 

This free workshop is intended for caregivers of persons living with dementia who want to maintain air travel with their loved ones. Learn how to plan and navigate airports and air travel. Representatives from the airlines, TSA, and the City of Phoenix Aviation Department will present valuable information. To register or request a reasonable accommodation, please email skyharbor@phoenix.gov with the subject line, Dementia-Friendly Air Travel Workshop Registration, and include your full name, phone number and address if you're interested in the tour. 

The workshop will take place at 2485 E. Buckeye Rd. and is on Wednesday, July 16th, from 10:00 AM to Noon, and check-in begins promptly at 9:30 AM. Parking is available onsite, outside the building.

Volunteering as a Navigator is a great way to get involved at America’s Friendliest Airport® and help thousands of daily passengers! The Navigators wear bright purple jackets or shirts and are eager to provide answers. Need directions to the airport shuttles? Need to page a passenger in the terminal? Or if you need some information about the airport’s shops and restaurants, the friendly Navigators are the go-to people for these questions and more. Volunteers Needed: Upcoming ¡Sombra! Experiments in Shade Events

¡Sombra! Experiments in Shade is led by the Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture in collaboration with the Parks and Recreation Department, the Office of Innovation, the Office of Heat Response and Mitigation, and the Mayor’s Office.

Volunteers are being recruited for the following date and time:                             

  • Saturday, September 20th at Steele Indian School Park (300 East Indian School Road) from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM

Volunteers must be 14 and older to participate, and volunteers 16 and younger must volunteer with a parent or guardian.
