Black History Month is a time to celebrate Black culture, resilience, and achievement. In addition, the Volunteer PHX Office is inspired by those who had the courage to advocate for change and overcame obstacles to arrive at resolutions that will benefit future generations.

AmeriCorps VISTA Opening: Office of Sustainability

Join the nation’s 5th largest city to help grow and improve civic participation and micro-mobility/electric vehicle literacy. Aid in creating a model for low-carbon transportation solutions and a better quality of life for those disproportionately affected by the impacts of climate change!  Along with the City of Phoenix Sustainability team the member will partner with community-based organizations to establish community focused listening sessions and work to enhance and expand education and outreach programing to identify low carbon micro-mobility transportation options and increase participation in city planning.

Volunteer Opportunity: VITA 

The city needs volunteers to help residents with their 2022 taxes. Every year, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program prepares free tax returns for low-to-moderate income individuals and families, but we can’t do it without YOU. VITA volunteers receive free training and are certified by the IRS to prepare basic tax returns. We need greeters, screeners, bilingual interpreters, and site coordinators. Volunteering with VITA is a great way to learn new skills and build your resume while helping others.

Volunteer Opportunity: Park Stewards

Volunteer as a Park Steward to promote stewardship and conservation. The Park Stewards wear many different hats in this volunteer role, whether that’s trail work, hike patrol, greenhouse attendant or bike patrol.  With opportunities throughout the week at the preserves in all areas of Phoenix, get outdoors and find your passion while maintaining your city’s trails.

Zero Waste Ambassador: Super Bowl Experience Downtown PHX 

Zero Waste Ambassadors will be instrumental in helping in the City of Phoenix reach its Super Bowl 92% waste diversion rate to classify as a zero-waste event! Ambassadors will be stationed at nearby trash and recycle containers in downtown Phoenix area.
