Aunt Rita's Foundation AIDS Walk

Councilwoman Stark joined Mayor Kate Gallego and City of Phoenix employees at the Aunt Rita's Foundation AIDS Walk Arizona & 5K Run. Phoenix is proud to be a Fast Track City and continues to work to help end HIV in Phoenix.

Glendale Union High School District Recognitions

Glendale Union High School District is proud to celebrate three of our athletic teams for earning the prestigious AIA Sportsmanship Award – an honor given to only one boys' and one girls’ basketball team per conference.

The Sportsmanship award recipients are determined by game officials based on key criteria including:

Fair play and respect
Graciousness in victory and defeat
Positive attitude and helpfulness
Academic standing and good citizenship
Conduct Beyond the Court

This recognition is a testament to the character and excellence that define our student-athletes and schools. Congratulations to our players, coaches, and school communities on this well-deserved achievement.

Sunnyslope High School seniors Manny Jacobs and Avery Lopez have achieved an extraordinary academic honor, earning recognition as National Merit Finalists. This prestigious distinction places them among the top high school scholars in the country.

The National Merit Scholarship Program recognizes students who perform exceptionally well on the PSAT/NMSQT, with semifinalists representing only a small percentage of test takers worldwide. Finalists are an even more exclusive group, selected from among the semifinalists based on academic excellence, leadership, and other achievements.

Congratulations to these outstanding Vikings for their hard work and dedication!

We are excited to celebrate the achievements of some incredible Thunderbird High School student-athletes who are taking their talents to the next level!

Natalie Colwell has officially signed to continue her cheerleading journey at Hastings College in Nebraska, where she will receive both a cheer and academic scholarship. This is a huge accomplishment, and we couldn’t be prouder of her dedication and hard work!

In addition, we are thrilled to announce that three outstanding football players have committed to continuing their athletic careers at the collegiate level. Congratulations to:

Joseph Francis, who will be playing at Western Colorado University
Richaud Martin, who will join Ottawa University of Arizona
CJ Curry, who will head to Nebraska Wesleyan University

These student-athletes have shown incredible talent and determination, and we can’t wait to see them shine at the next level. Congratulations to all of them on their hard-earned success, and to the dedicated teachers who played a vital role in ensuring these students are well prepared for their post-secondary journey.

Employee Memorial Ceremony

On March 20th, the City of Phoenix celebrated the lives of employees who passed away while in service to the City, including Officer Zane Coolidge and retired Deputy Chief Don Williams. We cannot overstate the importance of their service and were honored to join their loved ones for this remembrance.

Youth Interactions Project

As part of the Phoenix Police Department's continuous improvements, the City is seeking anonymous feedback from youth and guardians on their experiences, perceptions of law enforcement, and priorities for youth-related policies.

City Manager's Trial Budget Public Hearings

The City of Phoenix Proposed 2025-26 City Manager’s Trial Budget is now available to view. Your feedback on this Proposed Trial Budget for the next fiscal year is welcomed and encouraged. Before the Phoenix City Council is scheduled to vote on the budget in May, you are invited to participate in the budget process:

Review the Proposed Trial Budget at your own pace
Attend a public meeting with City leadership
Send feedback via email, phone, or social media

Access to all these options can be found on a special Budget Hearings website . Join us for one of the District 3 Budget Hearings:

April 10th - 8:30am-10:30am - Sunnyslope Community Center (802 E. Vogel Ave.)
April 14th - 6pm-8pm - Paradise Valley Community Center (17402 N. 40th St.)

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month

Let's Talk Teal - Sexual Violence Awareness

Denim Day Est. 1999

In 2019, the City of Phoenix launched a Sexual Violence Awareness campaign called "Let's Talk Teal." In addition to activities that directly impact survivors of sexual violence, the initiative emphasizes having important conversations to prevent and end sexual violence.

The City of Phoenix's partnership with the Arizona Coalition to End Sexual and Domestic Violence and the Sexual Assault Kit Initiative administered by the Bureau of Justice Assistance seeks to raise public awareness about Sexual Violence and to educate communities on how to prevent it.

Join the City of Phoenix in wearing teal on April 1st and denim on April 30th to show support for sexual assault survivors.

April City Council Meetings

The Phoenix City Council will have Formal Meetings on Wednesday, April 9th and April 23rd at 2:30 p.m.

Members of the public can attend and speak in-person, by phone, or virtually via Webex. Pre-registration is required to speak on an agenda item or during the Public Comment period. To find the agenda and information on how to register to speak and how to submit an e-comment, visit Phoenix City Council Meetings.

Phoenix Mayor and City Council Inauguration

Councilwoman Stark is honored to serve as District 3's council member once again. Please join us in celebrating the inauguration ceremony of Mayor Gallego and Councilwomen Stark, Guardado, and Hernandez on Monday, April 21st at 10am.
