The 4^th Annual Slope Holiday Market & Parade is right around the corner!

The year’s market includes artists, makers, crafters, and holiday gifts with a focus on local producers. Find unique gifts for everyone on your list and treat yourself to something weird and wonderful that can’t be found anywhere else!

Hatcher Road will be closed from 7th Avenue to Central Avenue for this fabulous and fun event which includes a market and parade featuring floats created by Sunnyslope business owners, neighborhood groups, and city departments!  With interactive art + crafts for the kids,  holiday music, Santa Bob, the Slope Crystal Princess and a petting zoo, there’s something for everyone to enjoy!  Come meet your neighbors, peruse the local vendors and food trucks, and enjoy a drink in the Beer Garden hosted by O.H.S.O. Sunnyslope and North Mountain Brewing Company!

Meet Lucy and Ta'Sheiko

Lucy Gardea and Ta'Sheiko Stephens-Robinson are Community Worker IIIs in NSD’s Neighborhood Revitalization Division. They do the initial intake, process the applications submitted and verify eligibility for the Hardship Assistance Program, Weatherization Assistance, and Owner-occupied Housing Rehabilitation Program cases. The best part of their jobs is getting to help their community; and the most challenging part is obtaining all the required documents needed to process requests. In their free time, Ta'Sheiko loves to read books, while Lucy would mostly likely want to catch a good movie or go dancing.

Help Shape Your Neighborhood, Take the Annual Action Plan Survey!

The City of Phoenix is seeking community input through its Annual Action Plan Survey, an important tool that helps guide how federal funds are used to support local priorities. The survey focuses on key areas such as:

• Affordable housing and homelessness
• Community and economic development
• Infrastructure and neighborhood enhancements
• Public services and facilities
• Housing for persons living with AIDS

By participating, you can help identify needs and priorities in your community. The feedback collected will directly influence how resources for 2026-2027 are allocated to serve your neighborhood. Give Back through Healthy Giving

The holiday season is a time of celebration, rejoicing, and giving thanks. This is a time when we’re especially reminded that there are others in need, especially our unhoused neighbors. Healthy giving is a more impactful way to give back that brings people closer to resolving their homelessness sooner. Unlike street giving that creates blight and fulfills a short-term need, healthy giving has a holistic approach that provides basic needs, creates trusting relationships, and provides services that create a long-term impact for individuals, the community and helps end homelessness.

There are several non-profit organizations, with experienced caseworkers, that provide food and shelter, and supportive services. Donating your time or money to nonprofit service providers can extend the value of your dollar by purchasing larger quantities of food and goods, and procuring much-needed services for those in need.

This holiday season, please consider healthy giving or volunteering your time at a nonprofit agency. Fireworks Safety

Phoenix Fire reminds everyone to stay safe and use fireworks responsibly. Know the difference between legal and illegal fireworks! In Arizona, anything that launches into the air or explodes is illegal. Click to learn the full guidelines.

Here are a few safety reminders:

1. After using legal fireworks, always soak them in a bucket of water for at least 24 hours before placing them in the trash.
2. Never allow children to handle fireworks.
3. Never Point or throw fireworks at another person.
